Throughout his professional life Patrick K. Schaefer has learned an appreciation of the simple truth: Every problem is intertwined with the life of a real person. A person with hopes & dreams. A person with fears & doubts. Any effort must solve the problem and serve the person. Pat now spends his professional life finding solutions to financial problems while preserving the dignity of his clients. He enjoys coming to work everyday because he knows he and his staff improve the lives of real people.

Knowing that he grew up in a large family (8 people!!) in Westchester, New York it is not hard to understand why he loves working with people. After graduating from the State University at Oswego in 1988 with honors, he told his family & friends he was “going to meet the man running for President.” That got a lot of laughs. He moved to Boston, worked at night and volunteered for Dukakis for President during the day. Within a few months he was hired by the campaign and assigned to the battleground states of Ohio and New Jersey. And yes, he met the man running for President! He developed a reputation for handling complex projects and became intrigued by the electoral process and how it can have a positive affect on people’s lives. Moving from Boston to New York he helped elect David Dinkins Mayor of New York City in 1989 and decided to forgo an opportunity to work in his administration, instead entering Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1992. During and after law school he was solicited by many politicians (Clinton-Gore ‘92, the Democratic National Committee, Attorney General Robert Abrams, the Honorable Mark Green, the Honorable Karen Burstein, Congressman Gregory Meeks and many more) for his expertise in electoral politics. In 1995, Pat was tapped by the leaders of the National and State Parties to serve as Executive Director of the New York State Democratic Party handling the day to day operations.

Although he enjoyed success and recognition on the political stage, his desire to transform people lives with the law never waned. In 2000 he joined with David J. Doyaga to build one of New York City’s best recognized firms in the area in consumer Bankruptcy. Pat continually studies the changes in the Bankruptcy laws as a member of the New York State and Federal Bars, the National Association or Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), and the American Consumer Bankruptcy College (ACBC). You can see him on various television shows serving as a commentator and he has addressed the New York State Assembly and the National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees as a lecturer.

Like his partner, Pat balances his life with his family. His passion for politics and the law is almost surpassed by his love of sports and the outdoors. If you do not catch him in Court you can be sure to find him on the sidelines of his kid’s games, on surf or snow boards or spending time with family and friends at home on Long Island.
